Rüdiger Korff

Rüdiger Korff (born November 1, 1954 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German sociologist .

Life

From 1973 to 1978 he studied sociology at Bielefeld University . After receiving his doctorate in sociology in 1985, he was a lecturer at Chulalongkorn University from 1985 to 1987 . From 1987 to 1991 he was a lecturer in Bielefeld . From 1998 to 2000 he was Professor of Development Science at the National University of Malaysia . From 2000 to 2004 he taught as a professor for sociology in developing countries at the University of Hohenheim . Since 2004 he has held the chair for Southeast Asian Studies in Passau .

His focus is on comparative studies on the processes of social and political change in Southeast Asia, especially with the thematic priorities: state formation and conflicts, urban development, urban society and patterns of local self-organization and media as an organizational form.
