Rüdiger Marmulla

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rüdiger Marmulla (born December 19, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German oral and maxillofacial surgeon .

On March 24, 1998, Rüdiger Marmulla carried out the first computer-aided bone segment navigation at the University of Regensburg Hospital . For this purpose, a new navigation system was used that Marmulla developed in cooperation with Carl Zeiss and that for the first time does not use individual reference points, but complete reference areas for patient registration.

Life

After studying human medicine and dentistry at the University of Frankfurt am Main, Marmulla did her doctorate with two basic theses on electron microscopic issues at the Dr. Senckenberg anatomy for Dr. med. and Dr. med. dent. This was followed by a medical activity at the Christian AIDS Aid Service in Frankfurt am Main. From 1994 to 1998 Marmulla was an assistant doctor in the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Regensburg , since 1998 as a senior physician. Marmulla completed his habilitation in 1999 with a thesis on computer-aided bone segment navigation . From 2002 onwards, Marmulla headed a special research area for computer-aided surgery at the Universities of Heidelberg and Karlsruhe, funded by the German Research Foundation, and since 2005 has had a joint research and development project on navigation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) . Marmulla has been a consultant for Carl Zeiss since 1995 and for the Fraunhofer Institute IPK in Berlin since 2000 .
