The trunk-lycidae ( Lygistopterus sanguineus ) is a beetle from the family of lycidae (Lycidae).
features
The beetles are 7 to 12 millimeters long. They have red or light brown-reddish wing wings , with easily visible longitudinal grooves. The grid-like drawing of the wing wings, which is often found in the red-cap beetles, is missing. Their head has a trunk-like protuberance, which is not found in any other Central European species of its family. The pronotum is black in the middle, but the same color as the wing on the left and right outside.
Distribution and way of life
They are common and common in Europe and Asia .
The larvae live in rotten hardwood and eat insects . They take several years to develop. The beetles feed on pollen .
