RAID: Shadow Legends

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RAID: Shadow Legends is a free to play mobile game with in-app purchases developed by Plarium and released for Android and iOS devices in July 2018 .

Gameplay

RAID: Shadow Legends is a turn-based gacha game with more than 300 collectible characters from 16 factions, in 15 different character types; including various human-like races, elves, orcs, salamander people, and undead.

The background of the game is the realm of Teleria, which was subjugated by the dark lord Siroth. Players take on the role of an experienced warrior Teleria, who was raised to face the dark lord and restore peace and harmony to the realm. Players must assemble an army for battles in locations such as castles, dungeons, deserts, and temples teeming with enemies and potential allies. In the course of the game, players collect splinters, which make it possible to obtain a random character. There are four different types of splinters, which in ascending order contain a higher probability of "better" characters. These are very rare during the game, but are offered in various package sizes as in-app purchases.

The game consists mainly of the story-based single player campaign ( PvE ) with 12 levels, with each level consisting of seven sections with three possible levels of difficulty. The PvE campaign is linked to a multiplayer component (also PvE), which determines the player rankings and, according to The Verge, offers "one of the most unique gaming experiences in the collectible RPG genre".

The game story was written by Paul CR Monk, who was nominated by the Writers Guild of America . The artistic style of the game is oriented towards the west with realistic characters and locations that were inspired by dark fantasy worlds and create a dark atmosphere.

reviews

RAID received generally good ratings: Pocket Gamer welcomed the “pure graphics quality” and “wonderfully rendered and animated” characters as well as a “generous experience for new players”. Gamezebo praises the game for "using a realistic, dark fantasy style instead of the typical anime style" and continues to write about a "breathtaking experience, with some of the best attack animations and environmental effects that one has ever experienced in this genre." Austrian “ Today ” describes the game system as ideal for mobile platforms and complex enough to captivate even hardcore gamers in the long term, whereby the constant requests for in-app purchases somewhat cloud the fun of the game. In the BlueStacks review , the graphics were particularly praised: “The animations are simply spectacular, with a quality that is seldom seen in this type of game” and that “Players who love fantasy battles of the more realistic kind - similar to the Lord of the rings - Raid: Shadow Legends will appreciate and enjoy. ”Inside Games criticizes the frequent purchase recommendations while playing and the lack of playful variety. All in all, Raid: Shadow Legends is a good gacha game that, despite the lack of fresh game ideas, shines with a very good graphic implementation. The magazine awards 78 out of 100 points.
