The BlueStacks App Player or short BlueStacks is a free, on VirtualBox -based Emulator - Software to run Android - apps under Windows and macOS . New apps are installed from the Google Play Store . It is operated using the mouse , and the keyboard can also be used in some apps .

The company was founded in 2009 by Jay Vaishnav, Suman Saraf and Rosen Sharma, the former CTO of McAfee and board member of Cloud.com , and released the software in 2011. Chip Online praises the operation and easy installation of apps within the emulator, but also criticizes the fact that not all apps are compatible with the emulator and that the free basic version contains annoying advertising. The emulator is particularly useful for apps that do not have a comparable PC version, such as individual messengers or games. Computer Bild gives the emulator 3 out of 5 stars. User numbers
