The RSA Battle House Tower is a skyscraper in Mobile , Alabama . The building was completed in 2007. It is located at 11 North Water Street. At 227 meters, it towers over the RSA Bank Trust building as the tallest building in Mobile and the Wells Fargo Tower in Birmingham as the tallest building in the state of Alabama. It is the tallest building outside of Houston along the Gulf Coast .
Naming
The RSA Battle House owes its name to two circumstances. For one, the building was commissioned and purchased by Retirement Systems of Alabama. On the other hand, the building took over the name of the neighboring Battle House Hotel , which was completely renovated in the course of the construction project and incorporated into the new complex as a hotel.
construction
In July 2001, a 37-story, 180-meter-high building was announced for Mobile. Work on the building began on the weekend of November 7, 2003 with the foundation work with pouring the concrete. The floor slab is 7 feet (2.1 meters) thick and is just above the natural water level of Mobiles (1.5 meters). On September 16, 2006, the last 27 meter high spire was installed by helicopter. The building thus reached its total height. Completion was noticeably delayed by the effects of several hurricanes , including Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The RSA Battle House Tower was designed by Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates, Inc. in postmodern architecture. In addition to the 25 floors used for office purposes, it also has a 3-floor lobby , 4 floors as a hotel and a mechanical floor. The Battle House Hotel was integrated into the tower during the construction work. On the "crown" there are lights that vary in color and can be seen from up to 40 kilometers on a clear day.
