The RS K6 is a keelboat with the characteristics of a dinghy .
It was designed by Paul Handley and introduced in England in 2002. The goal was to construct a boat that is both sporty and can be used for a leisurely Sunday afternoon excursion. This goal has been achieved through the ballast distribution (approx. 50% ballast in the keel) and the large, but not oversized, sail area.
The boat can be sailed by two to three people, even if part of the crew is still inexperienced. The loads and the effort required are low. Thanks to the lifting keel , which can be pulled up by a pulley on the mast, the boat does not need a berth in the water and can be slipped within a few minutes .
With its 29 m² gennaker and a total weight of 280 kilos, the boat starts planing from three wind strengths and reaches speeds of well over ten knots.
The RS K6 has been widely used in England since 2002, there are now over 100 boats there. In addition, she is actively sailed in the United States and Germany.
