Raúl Montero Bustamante

Raúl Montero Bustamante (born April 4, 1881 in Montevideo , † August 15 or August 19, 1958 ) was a Uruguayan historian, writer and university professor.

Life

Raúl Montero Bustamante was Professor of Literature and American and Uruguayan History at the Universidad de la República . The Uruguayan, who works as a literary correspondent for the Argentine daily La Prensa , founded the magazine Revista Literaria in 1900 . In this and in the Vida Moderna , which he has directed since 1911, and the Revista Nacional which he led between 1938 and (depending on the sources) 1955 or 1956, he published numerous publications. From 1915 he worked at the Instituto Histórico Geográfico , of which he was an honorary member and temporary president. He also stood before the Comisión Nacional de Bellas Artes . Since its inception in 1943, Montero Bustamante has also been President and Honorary Member of the Academia Nacional de Letras del Uruguay . He was buried at the Cementerio Central in Montevideo.

Montero Bustamante lived in Montevideo on calle Tabaré 2416 until his death , where he also died. A department of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes was opened in this house on October 12, 1966 .
