Rachael Alexis Adams (born June 3, 1990 in Cincinnati , Ohio ) is an American volleyball player . She became world champion in 2014 and won the Olympic bronze medal in 2016.

Career

Adams began her career at her native Mount Notre Dame High School. During her studies, she played on the team at the University of Texas at Austin from 2008 to 2011 . The middle blocker has been part of the US national team since 2013 , with which she won the Panamerican Cup in 2013, the World Cup in Italy in 2014 , the Pan American Games in 2015 , the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and the Panamerican Cup again in 2019.

Adams has also been active in various foreign associations since 2012. She played in Poland with KS Pałac Bydgoszcz and MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza (2013 Polish Supercup winner), in Italy with Imoco Volley Conegliano (2016 Italian champion), in Turkey with Eczacıbaşı Istanbul (2016 Club World Champion, 2018 winner of the CEV Cup ) and since 2018 again in Italy with Saugella Monza (2019 winner Challenge Cup ).

Adams was honored several times as "Best Middle Blocker" or "Best Whipper".
