James Edward "Jamie" Masters (born April 14, 1955 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 35 games for the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League and others in the course of his active career between 1972 and 1987 Has played 227 games for SB Rosenheim in the ice hockey Bundesliga on the position of defender .
Career
After a strong time among the juniors, in which Masters had played with Peter-John Lee among others at the Ottawa 67’s , the defender drew the attention of the big clubs. In the NHL Amateur Draft in 1975 , the guaranteed St. Louis Blues ' rights in the second round at the 35th position on him while in the World Hockey Association in the first round in twelfth position of WHA Amateur Draft in 1975 awarded the rights to him .
Right at the beginning of the 1975/76 season Masters was in the squad of the Blues and made his debut on October 8 in the game with the Detroit Red Wings . After five games he was sent to the farm team at the Providence Reds , where he played together with Greg Holst and Lynn Powis , among others . At the end of February he came back to the Blues again for two games. The following season he started with the Kansas City Blues , together with other talents of the St. Lous Blues such as Bernie Federko , Brian Sutter and Rick Bourbonnais . The team dominated the Central Hockey League , but before the team could secure the Adams Cup in the playoffs , most of the talent had advanced to the NHL. Masters played the last 16 games of the season 1976/77 in the NHL and was able to achieve his only NHL goal on March 15 in a 1: 4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs . There followed two seasons with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles , in which he played together with Tony Currie . In the 1978/79 season he started again in St. Louis, after ten games, however, the NHL chapter was closed for him. After the election in the NHL Expansion Draft in 1979 , there were short engagements with the Cincinnati Stingers and the Syracuse Firebirds in the minor leagues before he moved to Europe.
From the 1980/81 season , the Canadian played for SB Rosenheim . At this time he was one of the strongest defenders in the league and was able to win the championship title with Rosenheim in the 1981/82 season. The following year, Rick Bourbonnais, an old friend, came to Rosenheim. His time in Germany ended when he won the championship in the 1984/85 season . At the age of 30 he was signed by EC Villacher SV from Austria , where he ended his career after two seasons
