Trevor Lynn Powis (born April 19, 1949 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and coach who, among other things, played 153 games in the World Hockey Association and 130 games in the National Hockey League .
Player career
In North America
At the start of his career, Lynn Powis played ice hockey at the University of Denver . He was elected in the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft by the Canadiens de Montréal in the sixth round in 68th position. After the time at the University of Denver Powis first played a season 1970/71 for the Denver Spurs and then for the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and won the Calder Cup with this team in the 1971/72 season .
In the 1972/73 season Powis played for the Omaha Knights in the Central Hockey League and moved to the National Hockey League for the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1973/74 season . As part of the 1974 NHL Expansion Draft , Powis was claimed by the Kansas City Scouts and played one season for them. All in all, Powis played 130 games in the National Hockey League, scoring 19 goals and 33 assists. During his time from 1975 to 1978 in the World Hockey Association , Powis scored 57 goals and 70 assists in 166 games (including playoffs) and won the Avco World Trophy with the Winnipeg Jets in the 1977/78 season .
In Europe
After winning the championship of the North American ice hockey league WHA in the 1977-78 season Powis came to Duisburger SC for the 1979/80 season together with Ken Baird and Mike Ford . Led by these two players, Duisburg made it into the ice hockey Bundesliga for the first time in 1979 . After two seasons 1979/80 and 1980/81 at Duisburger SC Powis moved to EV Füssen for the season 1981/82 . During the 1980/81 season Powis took on the role of assistant coach or player-coach at Duisburger SC. After a final season 1982/83 in Italy with HC Alleghe Powis ended his active career and returned to Denver.
Powis worked after his ice hockey career as a real estate agent and coached youth teams in ice hockey.
