Fjoralba Turku

Fjoralba Turku (* 1983 in Tirana ) is an Albanian jazz musician (vocals, composition).

Turku comes from a well-known Albanian family of musicians - the violinist Rudens Turku is her older brother. She has lived in Germany since she was nine years old. Turku began studying literary history at the Sorbonne in Paris and theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Later she decided on music: From 2007 to 2010 she studied jazz singing at the University of Music and Theater in Munich ; In 2008 she attended master classes at Berklee College of Music with Jan Shapiro and Bob Stoloff .

That same year, she made her debut with Geoff Goodman's Tabla and Strings project , which included Charlie Mariano . Since then she has been touring in various formations through Europe and Canada. In 2008 she was able to place in the semifinals of the International JazzSingers Competition in Brussels and received an honorary award for special musical achievements.

In 2010 she released her debut album, which was followed by other albums. Various projects with Goodman, Henning Sieverts , Till Martin, Tizian Jost , Bill Elgart , Sava Medan, Hugo Siegmeth and others show their musical diversity. She also appears with Geoff Goodmann in the duo Katie Cruel .
