Radimir Čačić

Radimir Čačić (born May 11, 1949 in Zagreb , Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian building contractor and politician of the Hrvatska narodna stranka - Liberalni democi (HNS), current county of Varaždin .

Life

He studied architecture at the University of Zagreb . He worked for the Croatian construction company Zagorje from Varaždin in the 1970s. In 1979 he co-founded the construction company DP Coning , Varaždin. In the Croatian War he was a brigadier .

From 1995 to 2000 he was the successor to Savka Dabčević-Kučar party chairman of the Hrvatska narodna stranka - Liberalni democi, of which he has been a member since 1990. He was followed in 2000 in office as party leader Vesna Pusić . From 2000 to 2003 he was Minister for Public Works, Construction and Reconstruction. From 2008 to 2013 Čačić was again party chairman of the HNS. From 2005 to 2008 he was County Varaždin County .

From December 23, 2011 to November 14, 2012, Čačić was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy in Croatia. In 2012 he resigned from his positions as Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister after being sentenced to 22 months in prison. The sentence was imposed on him for causing a two-way speed accident in Budapest in 2010. In 2015, when he split off from the HNS, he founded the new party Narodna stranka - Reformisti , of which he became the first party leader.
