Radio Grün Weiß is a radio station in the Austrian state of Styria . The station based in the city of Leoben was the first local radio station in Upper Styria to go on air in 1998 . This offers music for a wide audience. The name is derived from the colors of the Styrian coat of arms.

history

It was originally started in the spring of 1998 in the municipality of Proleb with a single frequency (102.6 MHz). A year later, the station moved in addition to four active frequencies in its new broadcast studio on Leoben's main square. The studios in neighboring Proleb have been closed. In 2001, the majority shareholder at the time (Volksbank Mürz Valley-Leoben) rejected the offer of a takeover by the KroneHit broadcasting network.

At the end of June 2007, Radio Grün Weiß stopped broadcasting on the frequencies 99.7, 102.6, 104.1 and 104.8 MHz. Since then, the main frequency 106.6 MHz has been used in the greater Mur and Mürz valleys. In addition, the filling stations "Leoben Stadt" 104.7 MHz, "Mürzzuschlag and surroundings" 107.0 MHz, "Eisenerz and surroundings" 101.1 MHz, and "Trofaiach-Traboch" on 103.3 MHz are operated.

The transmission area has been expanded again since July 2015: the transmitter on the Hochwurzenhütte now also covers the Ennstal at 106.3 MHz and the Paltental at 104.8 MHz since September 2015.

Since 2015 the two presenters Peter Petzner and Nicole Präpasser have been the new owners of Radio Grün Weiß.

In 2017, work was carried out on two further improvements in coverage: 95.0 MHz for Kapfenberg and the surrounding area - and 101.1 MHz for the Aichfeld-Murboden region.

In July 2018, the station moved into its new studio above the LCS Leoben.

The total technical range is currently 270,000 people.
