history

Radio Kaiseregg was founded in June 2001. The aim was to create a fresh and dynamic radio program for the German-speaking part of the canton of Friborg. After receiving the 1st short event license from the Federal Office of Communication (30 days of broadcasting until the end of 2002), Radio Kaiseregg went on air for the first time on October 26, 2002. Until the end of the year, broadcasts from the studio in Schwarzsee took place every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays .

In 2003, technical and personnel expansions followed. The new transmitter location in Guggisberg ensured better reception quality and greater range. Radio Kaiseregg could be received from | Schwarzsee via Tafers , Wünnewil to Schwarzenburg . The Country Night Schwarzsee was broadcast live for the first time .

From June 2004 Radio Kaiseregg was on the air for 30 Saturdays until the end of the year - but this time only on Saturdays. The team has now grown to 16 volunteers . The radio was present at various events, each of which was broadcast live.

In April 2005, the Department for the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication (DETEC) granted the local broadcaster a permanent license for cable operations. The team grew to 23 volunteers. All program content has been revised and expanded with a lot of idealism. Since the beginning of June 2005, Radio Kaiseregg has been broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Broadcasting was maintained for two years without any major changes. In March 2008, a new management team was formed from six long-term team members. The restart in June 2008 brought the station a new look and a new program: The focus is no longer on the weekend, instead a lot of content is broadcast in the evenings during the week and repeated the following morning.

The almost year-long search for a new studio location was completed at the end of May 2009: after some renovation work and the relocation of the infrastructure, the new studio in Tafers was opened in August. At the new location, Radio Kaiseregg is also easier to reach for studio guests. The studio in Schwarzsee will continue to be used for special programs and training purposes.

In 2011, in addition to a weekly sports program, Radio Kaiseregg is now also present as a Gottéron fan radio with the “Drachenradio” format. In a first phase, the away games (from September 18) will be accompanied and commented live by Gottéron fans.
