history
Radio began in the Dutch East Indies in 1925 through the Bataviaasche Radio Vereniging (BVR). RRI's predecessor was the Nederlandsch-Indische Radio Omroep Maatschappij (NIROM), on the air from 1934 to 1942. As a result of the Japanese invasion of Southeast Asia , the Japanese-controlled broadcasting authority Hoso Kanri Kyoku (放送 管理局) existed from 1942 to 1945 . From the stations in Jakarta , Bandung , Purwokerto , Yogyakarta , Semarang and Surakarta , RRI emerged one month after Indonesia's declaration of independence on September 11, 1945. 1970 the establishment of private radio stations was made possible.
Programs
In addition to the national information program Pro 3 and the foreign service Suara Indonesia ( voice of Indonesia ), RRI organizes the regional program Pro 1 , the music program Pro 2 and the cultural program Pro 4 , all of which have three regional program components.
