organization

Regular broadcasting began on September 22, 1997 . The program is made by many independently organized editorial teams whose employees work on a voluntary basis. In order to ensure broadcasting operations, the broadcaster receives grants from the Hessian State Media Authority (around half of the total annual budget of almost 120,000 euros, in 2017: around 60,000 euros) and is also dependent on additional income from sponsoring memberships and events.

Broadcast times and program

radio x broadcasts around the clock and offers a full program live from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.

In addition to music programs on various musical styles , magazine programs are devoted to cultural and social topics, and there is also a daily morning show, Scrambled X. Radio X brings together a network of creative people from the region under its roof. Together in around 90 editorial offices, they design the program. This includes music programs with a focus on funk / soul, jazz, indie / alternative, punk, reggae, rap, electro / house / techno / D'n'B or experimental. Other programs contain broad music palettes or special programs such as Chinese music or hardcore. The program also contains numerous information programs on science, politics and schools or universities. The detailed ten-minute news is broadcast live by Deutschlandfunk three times a day (at 8 a.m., 1 p.m. and 11 p.m.). There is also a cinema magazine, radio plays, sound experiments, a daily DJ night, broadcasts by and for schoolchildren, as well as programs on queer, political and social issues. There are numerous cultural programs as well as foreign language programs that are produced by the citizens of the region in their respective mother tongue. Entertainment programs with audience participation, comedy, satire and cabaret are also included in the broadcast spectrum. The comedy duo Mundstuhl began their career with a weekly afternoon show on Radio X from 1997 to 1998.
