Radio ffn Hot 100

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Radio ffn Hot 100 was a four-hour music program on Radio ffn that was broadcast every Saturday from January 1987 to August 1996. The main presenter of the show was Jörg-Christian Petershofen (* October 2, 1960, † September 22, 2013).

Concept of broadcast

The core of the program was the "Hot 100" that Radio ffn had put together itself. This hit list was calculated from the current hit lists of the Federal Republic of Germany ( German single charts ), the USA ( Billboard Hot 100 ) and Great Britain ( UK Top 40 ), whereby only the top 50 were considered for Germany and the USA. Due to the limited broadcasting time, only the top group, the climbers and the newcomers were usually played (as far as the station had the titles, which was often not the case, especially with placements from England); for the other titles only the current and previous week positions were given. Within the program, the top 20 (from 1995 only the top 10) of the hit lists from the USA, Great Britain and Germany were read out, as well as the album charts from America and Germany.

In comparison with the charts programs of other German radio stations, the Radio ffn Hot 100 held a special position, as they were based on the media control hit list that most other broadcasters did not take into account and, on the other hand, three chart programs were merged into one program . Another special feature was that all titles were usually played in full. For this purpose, Radio ffn created its own pieces of accompanying music ("Unterleger") for the moderation part.

End of broadcast

On August 3, 1996, the last episode of the Hot 100 aired. It was replaced by a Top 40 format, which only lasted until the end of 1997. The last track played on August 3, 1996 was Frank Sinatra's My Way as ranked zero.
