Radiometer Medical ApS is a Danish company and supplier of blood gas measuring devices .

It was founded in 1935 by the young Danish engineers, Carl Schrøder and Børge Aagaard Nielsen to manufacture measuring instruments for the Danish radio industry. In 1937 Sören Sörensen from Carlsberg Laboratorien succeeded in stimulating the development of an analyzer for determining the pH in liquids. Two years after Arnold Orville Beckman , they developed a pH meter .

When Denmark was hit by a polio epidemic in the summer of 1952, Dr. Poul Astrup and the anesthesiologist Bjørn Ibsen that by measuring the pH value in the blood, a metabolic or respiratory distress could be clarified and treated accordingly. In a matter of days, Radiometer engineers had created what would go down in history as the first blood gas analyzer.

In 1984 the company was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. In 1996 a subsidiary was founded in Thalwil , Switzerland. The Radiometer Group's headquarters are in Copenhagen . Radiometer is now a subsidiary of the US Danaher Corporation .
