Rafael Ibarguren Schindler

Rafael Ibarguren Schindler EP (born June 26, 1952 in Buenos Aires , Argentina) is a Catholic clergyman and was administrator of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Miguel de Sucumbios until the end of May 2011 . He is one of the heralds of the gospel .

Life

Raised in Argentina, he joined the Heralds of the Gospel and was ordained a deacon on December 8, 2004 in Avezzano, Italy. He was ordained a priest on June 15, 2005 in São Paulo . He belongs to the community of apostolic life Virgo Flos Carmeli. He studied philosophy and theology in São Paulo and obtained a licentiate in moral theology .

Administrator in Sucumbíos

Since October 30, 2010 he was administrator of the Apostolic Vicariate of San Miguel de Sucumbíos , which has led to various conflicts in the population and also with the President. However, he was initially supported by Rome. Before that, the popular bishop Gonzalo López Marañón held office there . Large parts of the population campaigned for him to remain a bishop. At the end of May 2011, the Ecuadorian Bishops' Conference decided that both the Discalced Carmelite Order , to which Marañón belongs, and the Heralds of the Gospel must leave the vicariate area. The Bishop of Guaranda , Ángel Polibio Sánchez Loayza, was temporarily appointed Apostolic Administrator.
