Heribert Macherey (born November 3, 1954 in Oberhausen ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper and today's coach .

Career

Heribert Macherey came to the second division MSV Duisburg in 1983 through the clubs SG Osterfeld and Hamborn 07 ( Oberliga Nordrhein ) . He made his debut on August 6, 1983, the first matchday of the 1983/84 season in the 2nd Bundesliga and was in goal in 25 games by the end of the season. Duisburg finished third, but failed in the relegation games to the Bundesliga at Eintracht Frankfurt . In the following season, the MSV only finished 13th in the final table. In 1986 they were 20th and were relegated to the Oberliga Nordrhein. During the relegation season Macherey lost his regular place to "Teddy" de Beer , who, unlike Macherey, left the club after relegation. In the league season 1986/87 they did not reach promotion, but became German amateur champions with a 4-1 victory in the final against the amateurs of FC Bayern Munich . After three years in the Oberliga, Macherey rose again to the 2nd Bundesliga with MSV in 1988/89 , followed by promotion to the Bundesliga in 1991. In his first three Bundesliga games, Macherey did not concede a goal, something that only Dirk Krussenberg had previously achieved in the 1966/67 season. In 1992 Jürgen Rollmann became the new “number 1” after Macherey sustained severe meniscus damage in preparation. Macherey then officially remained in the squad for the 1992/93 season , but was no longer used and then ended his career at the age of 38.

From September 2009 to February 2011 he was the coach of the regional division BW Weseler Zebras . Before that, he worked as a youth coach at SV 08/29 Friedrichsfeld .
