Rafel Ginard Bauçà

Rafel Ginard Bauçà (born July 27, 1899 in Sant Joan , Mallorca , † October 15, 1976 in Artà , Mallorca) was a Spanish writer.

Life

He took up the profession of priest and took over a priesthood in 1929. He was therefore commonly called Father Ginard . He was interested in literature and songs from an early age. He made a collection of choruses , ancient expressions and songs. As early as 1927 he published articles in the magazine Llevant , which were then published in a volume of Croquis Artanencs in 1929 . In 1960 the series was continued in Bellpuig magazine . The articles dealt thematically with the municipality of Artà, where he spent the last 19 years of his life. From 1966 to 1975 he published a four-volume collection of songs based on his collection of refrains and songs, which became popular in Mallorca and his most famous work. He documented the songs sung on Mallorca for generations. In 1960 he published an essay on the island's traditional orally transmitted songs.

Rafel Ginard Bauçà wrote short stories as well as poetic and essayistic works. His poetic work is influenced by traditional poetry and is dedicated to religious and landscape themes. In essays he dealt with the person and the work of Ramon Llull . He also published some of his works.

Honors

Rafel Ginard Bauçà was made an honorary citizen of his birthplace Sant Joan and Artà.
