Raffaele Bendandi

Raffaele Bendandi (born October 17, 1893 in Faenza , † November 3, 1979 in Faenza ) was an Italian watchmaker who became known for his earthquake predictions.

He developed a theory about the origin of earthquakes, which was based on the assumption that the gravitational influence of the celestial bodies of the solar system affects the earth's crust in such a way that earthquakes can occur. His theory cannot be proven from a scientific point of view.

During the 1920s, Bendandi published numerous earthquake predictions in various newspapers. In May 2011 one of these predictions of an earthquake for Rome sparked unrest in the media and the population.
