The refinery power plant Lingen the Emsland oil refinery supplies the refinery with electricity and steam . In addition, the excess electrical energy is fed into the public grid.

history

The refinery power plant went into operation in 1953 with the entire refinery. At the beginning, two turbines and two steam boilers (fueled by heavy oil) were in operation. The electrical output was 3 MW in each case. The steam capacity each 40 tons. Soon the steam capacity was no longer sufficient and additional boilers were put into operation. At the beginning of the 80s, a new boiler was built to replace the old boiler, the 150 m high chimney, the current landmark of the refinery. Until 1995 the refinery power plant consisted of five turbo-generators and four boilers. Since the electrical output was no longer sufficient, two gas turbines with environmentally friendly waste heat boilers were installed. The gas turbines were supplied by MTU. In addition to the gas boilers, there are two gas-fired reserve boilers and a waste heat boiler from a calcination facility for generating steam. The resulting steam is passed through a turbine , generating additional electricity.
