Ragnheiður Ríkharðsdóttir

Ragnheiður Ríkharðsdóttir ( transcribed Ragnheidur Rikhardsdottir ; born June 23, 1949 in Akranes ) is an Icelandic politician ( Independence Party ).

Ragnheiður Ríkharðsdóttir worked as a teacher and headmistress at the middle school in Mosfellsbær near Reykjavík . From 2002 to 2007 she was mayor of Mosfellsbær.

From 2007 to 2016 Ragnheiður was a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing for the Southwest constituency . From 2009 to 2013 she was first vice-spokeswoman for parliament, after having been a vice-spokesperson from 2007–2009. Since 2013 she has been the leader of the independence party in the Althing. Ragnheiður Ríkharðsdóttir was active in changing parliamentary committees, most recently she was a member of the Committee on Welfare. Since 2013 she has been a member and chair of the Icelandic delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). Ragnheiður Ríkharðsdóttir did not run for the general election in Iceland in 2016 .
