The Rahad ( Arabic نهر الرهد Nahr ar-Rahd , also Scinfa in the upper reaches) is a seasonal tributary of the Blue Nile in Ethiopia and Sudan .
course
The river has its source in the Ethiopian highlands a few kilometers west of Lake Tana . It flows in a westerly direction. The river forms the border with Sudan over a length of about 10 km. In Sudan it borders the north of the Dinder National Park . After the border it makes a wide arc and changes its course to the northwest. The Rahad flows into the Blue Nile at Abu Haraz in the Butana steppe region , about 150 km before it reaches Khartoum .
