The Raier Moos (also Raier-Moos or Raiermoos ) is a protected wet biotope near Raas in the municipality of Naz-Sciaves in South Tyrol with rare fauna and flora ( lapwing , wasp spider ), which is also used as a recreational area.
The Raier Moos is 10 hectares in size, was placed under protection in 1986 and is located at 830 m slm . The western part of the biotope is also used extensively for agriculture.
Today's small lake in the south-east of the biotope was restored in the course of setting up the biotope after its predecessor had silted up.
history
After the last ice age, a lake formed 12,000 years ago, which in prehistoric times provided space for a number of stilt houses. In 1426 the Neustift monastery received fishing rights in the lake.
