history

The history of the Raiffeisenbank Wangen goes back to the year 1897. The foundation stone of the Raiffeisenbank Wangen was laid in 1897 by citizens of the municipality of Wangen, who wanted to maintain and promote their economic independence in times of upheaval. On April 2, 1897, 50 citizens of Wangen met in the Gasthaus zur Linde in Wangen, chaired by Mayor Christian Uebele, and founded the Wangen Loan Association. In 1935, the loan association is renamed the savings and loan association eGmuH Wangen. After the association had operated the banking business in the apartments of the respective computers for 40 years, the first bank rooms in Hauptstrasse 117 were opened in 1938. The first full-time employee, Fritz Liebrich, takes over the management of the savings and loan fund Wangen in 1944. 1953 the statutes of the cooperative bank changed the unlimited liability of the members into a limited liability. At the same time, the company's name is changed to Genossenschaftsbank Wangen eGmbH. In 1967 it is decided to merge the savings and loan association Baiereck eGmbH with the cooperative bank Wangen. In 1972, the merger with Raiffeisenbank Rechberghausen-Börtlingen took place, from which today's Raiffeisenbank Wangen emerged.
