Raiko Petrov

Raiko Petrov ( Bulgarian Райко Петров ; * 26. July 1930 in Sliwowiza , † 2011 ) was a Bulgarian wrestler coaches and sports scientists.

Life

Petrov attended the Georgy Dimitrov College of Physical Culture and Sports. From 1974 he worked as a professor. He was also deputy chairman of the Bulgarian Association for Physical Culture and Sport and from 1969 to 1990 President of the Bulgarian Wrestling Association. He has also worked in international organizations and was a member of the Office of the World Council on Sports and Physical Education and the Office of the International Amateur Wrestling Federation .

Petrov founded a Bulgarian school of wrestling from which Bulgarian Olympic champions as well as world and European champions emerged. Among his students were Lyutvi Dschiber Akhmedov , Prodan Gardschew , Nikola Stantschew and Enju Waltschew Dimow . He was honored as a hero of socialist work and the Dimitrov Prize. As a functionary he was inducted into the FILA International Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2004 .
