The Railways Building is a skyscraper in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan . It is the headquarters of the Kazakh State Railway Company Temir Scholy, Kazakhstan .

The Railways Building is located in Nur-Sultan's new government district on the north side of Water-Green Boulevard, where the Bayterek Tower , the city's landmark, is also located. The Railways Building consists of two towers that are connected by three bridges.

The height to the top of the building is 175 meters. In the higher of the two towers there are 40 floors, in the other tower there are 37 floors. The total usable area is 10,000 m².

history

The Railways Building was opened on July 3, 2009 after four years of construction by the incumbent Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev .

On June 10, 2009 at 4:00 a.m. UTC (10:00 a.m. local time on June 10, 2009) a fire broke out on the 9th floor of the Railways Building, as a result of which more than 100 people were evacuated from the building. On June 17, 2009 at 12:34 p.m. UTC (6:34 p.m. local time on June 17, 2009), a worker was fatally injured as a result of a fall from the sixth floor.
