Rainer-Maria Fritsch

Rainer-Maria Fritsch (born July 27, 1956 in Berlin ) is a German political official ( Die Linke ). From 2009 to 2011 he was State Secretary in the Berlin Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs.

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1976 in Berlin, Fritsch began studying social work / social pedagogy at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Berlin in 1977 . In 1980 he completed his studies and completed an internship at the social welfare office and youth welfare office in the Berlin district of Wedding , where he started working as a social worker in the youth welfare office in 1981. In 1992 he moved to Berlin-Lichtenberg as head of social education services, and in 1996 was promoted to head of the youth welfare office. He also kept this position in the youth welfare office of the merged Lichtenberg district. From 2008 he took over political offices as district councilor and later state secretary.

Rainer-Maria Fritsch is the father of two adult daughters.

Fritsch is a member of the Die Linke party.

From January 24, 2008 to November 2009, he was City Councilor for Youth and Finance in Berlin-Mitte . He succeeded Jens-Peter Heuer , who had moved to the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women as State Secretary.

From November 17, 2009, Fritsch was State Secretary for Social Affairs in the Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs led by Carola Bluhm . Fritsch succeeded Petra Leuschner, who had left office together with Bluhm's predecessor Heidi Knake-Werner .

In the 2011 parliamentary election , Fritsch was his party's candidate for the direct mandate in the Mitte 3 constituency , where he achieved 5.3 percent of the first votes. After the change of government following the election, he resigned from his post as State Secretary on December 6, 2011 and was put into temporary retirement.
