Rainer Brandt (born May 29, 1945 in Bremervörde ) is a German homeland researcher and writer.

Career

Born in Bremervörde in 1945 on the corner of Brackmannstrasse, Rainer Brandt attended elementary school in the city center and then middle school on Neue Strasse. Brandt began training in the administration of the city of Bremervörde in 1962. There he became head of the office for economic development, culture and human resources, from 1993 head of the city administration and most recently first city ​​councilor . In 2002 he left the municipal service.

In the early 1970s, he went public with his love of home history . At the end of the 1970s, he presented a documentary about the life of the Bremen-based shipper Diedrich Schnackenberg . Another 25 books and dozens of articles in newspapers followed, dealing with the history of the city of Bremervörde and the Osteland . His most important works of local literature include the chronicle “Bremervörde - Pictures from the History of a City”, which he presented in 1987 with Elfriede Bachmann . The first part deals with Bremervörde's early history "From the beginnings to 1866" and was written by Bachmann, the second part "From 1866 to the present" was written by Brandt. He wrote his personal memories, beginning in the 1950s and linked to the small town history of Bremen, in “Ecke Brackmannstraße” (published in 1992). "Beloved, old Bremervörde" appeared in 2002 as a hard book to the anniversary 150 years Bremervörde (2002).

In 1988 he took over the honorary chairmanship of the DRK district association Bremervörde and is particularly committed to the rescue service , the sponsorship of three day-care centers and a multigenerational house. He is also involved in Alzheimer's self- help groups , the blood donation service and broad training for first aiders . After 24 years he resigned as honorary chairman from this honorary position.
