Rainer Ditzfeld is a German politician and current mayor of the Lower Saxon town of Achim in the Verden district .

Life

He entered the mayoral election in Achim in 2006 as a member of the CDU , but lost there to his opponent Uwe Kellner from the SPD . For the next mayoral election in 2014, the Achimer CDU decided on another candidate in the person of the lawyer Wrobel from the Heidekreis . Due to pressure from Ditzfeld, however, the latter withdrew, whereupon the party Volker Wrede from the Achim district of Baden ultimately chose . At the final general assembly, Wrede also won and was thus nominated as a candidate for mayor by the CDU. As a result and due to internal party disputes, Ditzfeld then left the party together with his wife and son. Then he started his election campaign as a single applicant. He was finally able to win the election on June 15 in the runoff election against his opponent. Since then he has been the acting mayor of the city of Achim. He has already announced his renewed candidacy for the upcoming election in 2021.
