Rainer Rochlitz
Rainer Rochlitz (born September 16, 1946 in Hanover ; † December 12, 2002 in Paris ) was a German-French philosopher , art historian and translator .
career
After studying philosophy in Germany, he specialized in philosophical aesthetics .
He was a researcher at the CNRS , later director of the seminar at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales , EHESS, and at the Université européenne de philosophie in Paris.
Rochlitz has essentially contributed to making the works of the young Georg Lukács as well as the works of Walter Benjamin and Jürgen Habermas known in the French-speaking area through translations. He translated some works in French, including exhibition catalogs, into German .
