Rainer Stephany (born November 27, 1962 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Stephany had already played for Bayer 05 Uerdingen for several years in their amateur team in the Niederrhein association league when he made his Bundesliga debut in the 1985/86 season . In the game of the 33rd matchday, on April 22, 1986, against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bökelbergstadion , he was substituted in for Klaus Basten in the 71st minute . Two minutes after being substituted on, Lárus Guðmundsson scored the 2-0 lead for coach Karlheinz Feldkamp's team and the hosts were only able to reduce it to 1: 2 in the 84th minute through Uwe Rahn . The game was won 2-1 and Bayer finished the season third in the league.
The game in Mönchengladbach was Stephany's only appearance in professional football.
