Rainer Stiller (born September 9, 1944 in Hanover) is a former German soccer player .
Career
The central defender Rainer Stiller began his football career at SG Ronnenberg 05 . In 1964 he moved to Hannover 96 and was German amateur champion in 1965 with the amateurs of Hannover 96 . In 1966 he was accepted into the professional squad by coach Horst Buhtz , where he was used twice in the 1966/67 season. He played for the first time on April 29, 1967 against Eintracht Braunschweig in the Bundesliga. The game was won 1-0. From 1968 he was a regular player in central defense alongside players like Peter Anders and Hans-Josef Hellingrath . Stiller stayed with the Hanoverians until the end of his career in 1978. He played his last Bundesliga game on June 12, 1976 against Kickers Offenbach , which his team won 4-0, but was still relegated from the Bundesliga . On May 27, 1978 he played his last professional game against Rot-Weiß Lüdenscheid which the "Reds" won 5-2. Stiller made a total of 362 league games, including 254 Bundesliga appearances, and scored 18 goals, nine of which were in the Bundesliga. He scored a total of 19 goals for Hannover in 396 competitive games.
He then ended his career at SV 06 Lehrte , where he worked as a player-coach from 1978 onwards. With Lehrte he rose to the regional league. After his time at Lehrte 06, Stiller coached various lower-class football teams, including TSV Krähenwinkel / Kaltenweide , TSV Schloß Ricklingen (City of Garbsen near Hanover) and from 1983 to 1989 Sparta Langenhagen. With Sparta Langenhagen Stiller rose in 1985 in the district class, 1986 in the district league and 1987 in the district league.
Stiller played twice in the German amateur football team in 1967 .
