The Rainer School (GRG5) is a Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium (BG and BRG) in the fifth district of Vienna , Margaret . The school has around 800 students and 88 teachers (as of 2019).
With the Rainergymnasium and the Josef-Haydn-Realgymnasium there are currently two high schools in Margareten.
history
Founded in 1879 KK Staatsgymnasium moved into the school building of the Piarist collegium St. Thecla, in the Wiedner Hauptstrasse 82, Vienna in the fourth district Wieden one.
For reasons of space, the KK Staatsgymnasium moved to Rainergasse 39 in the fifth Viennese district of Margareten in 1894 .
In 1895 the grammar school was renamed Elisabeth grammar school.
The school building was increased by two floors from 1928 to 1929 due to the large number of new students.
In 1945 the school building burned down as a result of a bomb hit and was rebuilt between 1948 and 1952.
