Rainis is an Indonesian village on Karakelong Island , northeast of Sulawesi .
The place is located on the east coast of the island, on the shores of the Molucca Sea , on Rainis Bay ( Indonesian Teluk Rainis ).
Rainis forms an administrative village (Desa) with 854 inhabitants (2017) in the district (Kecamatan) Rainis (administrative district Talaud Islands , province North Sulawesi ). The area of the Desas is 8.90 km². To the west is the Desa Parangen , to the south the Desa Rainis Baru Penga , to the north the Rainis Bay and to the west the open Molucca Sea.
The majority of the population are Protestant Christians. There are also individual Catholics and Muslims.
