Rajnold Suchodolski

Rajnold Suchodolski (* 1804 , † September 8, 1831 in Warsaw ) was a Polish nobleman , poet and officer from the noble family of Suchodolski or Suchodoletz . He was a brother of the painter January Suchodolski .

Life

Suchodolski took part in the November uprising of 1830 against Russian rule , where he was killed. In the grammar school in Swislocz (today Belarus ) he was a member of the secret society Zorzan , which was connected with the Filaret Society . During the November Uprising he became a member of the Patriotic Club . He was wounded in the Battle of Ostrołęka . He died at Praga while defending Warsaw .

His verses and songs of an insurgent were published in the collection “Ulubione pieśni” ( Beloved Songs ) in 1831. Among the most famous works of the poet are the songs "Mazurek 3 Maja - Witaj, majowa jutrzenko" ( Mazurka of May 3rd - Be Welcome, May Morning Star ) in memory of the Constitution of May 3rd , "Polonez Kościuszki" ( Kościuszko - Polonaise ) and the revolutionary song “Dalej bracia do bulata” ( Los, brothers, against sabers ).
