When the Koenigsberg Oblast was incorporated into the Soviet Union on April 7, 1946, a separate district was initially planned for the northern part of the Gerdauen district, which existed until 1945, after the new border was drawn as a result of the Second World War . On site, however, this area was assigned to Friedland Rajon when it was handed over to civilian authorities on May 31, 1946 . On July 25, 1947, however, a separate Rajon was formed for this area, which was named after Gerdauen, which was renamed Schelesnodoroschny. To manage the Rajons was Executive Committee of the Schelesnodoroschner Rajonsowjets of deputies of working people appointed (ru Исполнительный комитет Железнодорожного районного Совета депутатов трудящихся, Ispolnitelny komitet Schelesnodoroschnowo rajonowo Soweta Deputatov trudjaschtschichsja; short. Железнодорожный Райисполком, Schelesnodoroschny Rajispolkom). On December 12, 1962, the Rajon was dissolved and (again) attached to the Pravdinsk Rajon .
