Ralf Bochert

Ralf Bochert (* 1961 in Bremen ) is a German university professor for economics and tourism management at Heilbronn University .

Career

Bochert first passed the Abitur examination in Bremen and then did alternative military service at a school for the mentally handicapped in Bremen-Vegesack . From 1983 to 1985 Bochert then completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk . From 1985, he studied economics at the University of Hamburg and a doctorate in 1991 from the University of Hohenheim Dr. oec. Bochert taught economics and environmental economics at the Merseburg University of Applied Sciences before moving to Heilbronn University as a lecturer in economics and tourism management in 1995. There he focuses on the tourism industry.

In the professional environment Bochert u. a. worked as assistant to the board and department head in the construction industry as well as managing director in the waste management industry.

Ralf Bochert is married and has three children.

License plate liberalization initiative

Ralf Bochert gained nationwide fame as head of the license plate liberalization project at Heilbronn University to reintroduce license plates that had not been allocated in the course of regional and administrative reforms since the late 1960s. Between 2010 and 2012, students at the university surveyed more than 50,000 people in more than 200 German cities on the subject. A clear majority of 72% of those surveyed in the affected cities were in favor of reintroducing old license plates. Since November 9, 2012, in line with the recommendation from the project, many of the old license plates have been reassigned as an option for vehicle owners.
