Ralf Busch (physicist)

Ralf Busch (born April 6, 1963 in Bad Gandersheim ) is a German physicist specializing in materials science . He works particularly in the field of metallic solid glass.

After graduating from high school in 1983, Ralf Busch began studying physics at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . He received his doctorate in 1992 in Göttingen with a thesis on "Analytical field ion microscopy of the reaction in Zr-Co double layers". In 1993 he went to the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena (USA) as a Feodor Lynen Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . There he began to work in the field of bulk metallic glasses . In 1999 he took on an assistant professorship in Materials Science in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State University and became an Associate Professor there in 2004 . In 2005 he accepted a professorship for metallic materials at Saarland University .
