Ralf Laging

Ralf Laging (* 1953 ) is a German sports educator and university teacher .

Life

Laging completed an apprenticeship as a music-technical specialist teacher for the subjects of sport and handicrafts at the Pedagogical Institute in Kassel, then he studied sport and biology for the teaching post (middle and high school) at the University of Kassel from 1974 to 1978. As early as 1974 he took on teaching positions in the subjects of sport, handicrafts and biology at schools in Kassel. He also looked after a gymnastics group on behalf of the city ​​of Kassel .

From 1980 to 1985 he was a research assistant in the sports science department at Bielefeld University . In 1984 Laging completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Kassel on the subject of "Practice in physical education: a theoretical justification and empirical investigation of teaching processes". The supervisors of his dissertation were Dietrich Martin and Klaus Heipcke .

In 1986 Laging was one of the founders of the Movement-Play-Learn Association, Association for Psychomotor Development Promotion eV in Kassel and was its chairman until 1995.

In 1986 and 1987, Laging completed his legal clerkship at the Heinrich Schütz School (comprehensive school) and the Jakob Grimm School (upper level high school) in Kassel and then passed his second state examination for teaching at the middle and upper level.

From 1988 to 1992 Laging worked in the educational science department of the University of Kassel as a research assistant and was entrusted with the scientific support of the “Reform School Kassel”. Partly at the same time, namely from 1989 to 1992, he worked at the Hessian Institute for Educational Planning and School Development (HIBS), where he dealt with the evaluation of Hessian experimental schools.

In 1993 and 1994 Laging held a position at the University of Kassel as a research assistant in the educational science department, where he mainly dealt with school research. In 1994 he took up a professorship for sports and exercise education at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg , in 2001 he moved to the Philipps University of Marburg , where he took on a professorship in the same department. From 2003 to 2004, in 2008 and 2009 as well as from 2016 to 2018, he held the office of managing director of the Institute for Sport Science and Motology at the University of Marburg, and from 2010 to 2014 he was the dean of the educational sciences department.

From 2000 to 2004 Laging was chairman of the sports pedagogy commission in the German Society for Educational Science (DGfE) and between 1997 and 2004 he was co-editor of the journal sports pedagogy .

Laging's main research areas were, among other things, the areas of “school and exercise”, the promotion of learning through exercise activities such as running dictations or narrative walks, in physical education, and pedagogical movement theory. He dealt with the health-oriented sports club, with the term play, exercise in everyday life, teacher training and gymnastics.
