Ralf Streuf

Ralf Michael Erich Streuf, often abbreviated as RME Streuf (born November 4, 1950 in Wuppertal ) is a German graphic artist , painter , businessman , local politician and musician .

Artistic activity

Streuf entered the Werkkunstschule in Wuppertal in 1967 , then entered the Düsseldorf Art Academy as a master student with Irmin Kamp .

He is a humorous person, he adorns his biography imaginatively, he says about himself: he went to Arnold Hau's class for film and half-timbered at the Werkkunstschule Wuppertal . He also invented the gold Grützbach badge, which he is said to have received in 1983, and describes himself as a representative of the arts and crafts Dadaism .

As an artist, Streuf is as versatile as it is original, he creates paintings , assemblages , objet trouvé , "kitsch pictures", color photocopies with retouched photos and comics with mostly ironic and subtle statements. Streuf tends to occasional street art actions and is with Eugen Egner (pseudonym Eugen Euler) a founding member of the musical group “ Poverty Certificate ”. The council information system of Wuppertal records Streuf's membership as "Supreme Congress-Schwänzer" OKdD and MdD of the German organization of non-commercial supporters of honest Donaldism (member of DONALD).

In 1988 he acquired the Von-der-Heydt summer house , which had been operated by some artists as an art and communication center "Verlag & Werkstatt Königshöhe" since the early 1980s.

Commercial activity

Streuf had been the tenant of the museum café of the von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal-Elberfeld since 1990 . The 25-year lease was not renewed in 2015.

Local political activity

For the voter community for Wuppertal (WfW) Streuf is elected to the district council Elberfeld and as a knowledgeable citizens in the Committee on Culture and was formerly, until June 2014 appointed to the Committee on Environment of the Council of the city of Wuppertal. Streuf is an advisory board member on the design advisory board. In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2009 , Streuf ran for the mayor's office . He was able to unite 2.32 percent of the vote. In February 2015, Streuf was elected chairman of the electoral community at the annual meeting.
