Ralph Strebel (* 1944 ) is a Swiss mathematician.

Strebel received his doctorate in 1973 under Urs Stammbach at the ETH Zurich ("The series of derivatives of E groups"). He was a full professor at the University of Friborg until his retirement in 2007 .

Strebel deals with combinatorial and geometric group theory . With Robert Bieri and Walter David Neumann , he introduced a new geometric invariant into group theory ( Bieri-Neumann-Strebel invariant ).
