Ramón Guzmán Martorell (born September 22, 1901 in Peñíscola , † April 1, 1954 ) was a Spanish football player and coach.

Career

Guzmán played for FC Barcelona from 1928 to 1935 . With the Catalans he won the newly introduced Spanish championship in 1929 . He played his first league game for Barcelona on matchday 8 of the 1928/29 season in a 1-0 win against Espanyol Barcelona . Only in the first two Spanish leagues played Guzmán was used in over half of the games, in his last six seasons at Barça he was only a substitute player. Guzmán's only league goal for Barcelona came in the 8-2 swat against Real Madrid on February 3, 1935.

In 1930 he completed his only three international matches for the Spanish national team , and made his debut on New Year's Day in a 1-0 win against Czechoslovakia .

For the 1941/42 season Guzmán was appointed coach of FC Barcelona . After Barcelona lost 2-1 to Espanyol Barcelona on matchday 15 at Camp Nou this season and slipped to 13th place in the table, the club's management pulled the rip cord and replaced Guzmán with Juan José Nogués . Guzmán won only four of 15 league games as coach of FC Barcelona. No one who coached Barça more than one league game can have such a bad rate.
