Ram Raja Prasad Singh ( Nepalese : राम राजा प्रसाद सिंह; * around 1936; † September 12, 2012 in Kathmandu , Nepal ) was a Nepalese politician from the Madhesi ethnic minority .

Life

He was sentenced to death in 1985 for a series of bombings that left eight dead . In his exile in India , Singh later admitted his involvement. He was pardoned in 1990 and returned to Nepal.

In 2008, after the abolition of the country's monarchy, the independent and previously politically insignificant Singh was proposed as a presidential candidate by the country's Maoists . However, on July 21, 2008, he was defeated in the second ballot by the candidate of the Nepalese Congress Party , Ram Baran Yadav .
