The Ramal de Jacutinga is a historic railway line in the provinces of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais in Brazil .

history

The Ramal de Jacutinga was created by the Cia. EF União Valenciana and in 1871 the first section from Valença to Desengano (Juparanã) was completed. In 1880 the line was extended to Rio Preto.

It was not until 1910, together with the establishment of the EFCB - Linha Auxiliar Rede Viação Fluminense railway network , that the Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil and the entire line in uniform gauge from Portella to Rio Preto were put into operation and in 1918 the expansion to Santa Rita do Jacutinga completed.

In 1963, the section from Portella to Barão de Vassouras was transferred to the Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina company . But already in 1970 all sections of the Ramal de Jacutinga were finally closed. Even the tracks have been removed in the meantime.
