The Ramform Titan class is a class of research vessels for seismological exploration of oil and gas deposits in the sea. The lead ship of the class, the Ramform Titan , entered service in 2013 as the largest ship of its kind. The original design of this ship shape, short but relatively very wide, was first used by the ship architect Roar Ramde for the Norwegian ship Marjata . The shipping company Petroleum Geo-Services operates three ships of the class, a fourth is under construction.
description
The ships are 104.20 m long, 70 m wide and have a draft of 6.42 m. There is a helicopter landing pad on the foredeck, and various cranes on the upper deck of the aft to use the streamers and work boats. The stern, which is open to the rear, is divided into two decks. The winches for the streamers are located in the upper deck. The deck below also has winches for additional seismic equipment and space for two work boats. Two separate engine rooms, each with three gensets, are completely redundant. Due to the extreme delta shape of the hull, the ships lie very calmly in the water. The crew consists of a total of 80 seafaring and scientific personnel. For sporting activities there is a 225 m² sports hall, a fitness room, a swimming pool and a sauna, as well as three TV rooms and an auditorium. The crew is accommodated in 60 individual cabins, all with bathrooms. Ten double cabins, also with bathrooms, are available for guests.
drive
The drive consists of three Wärtsilä 8L 32 motors, each of which acts on a controllable pitch propeller . A retractable, 360-degree rotatable Brunvoll thruster type AR100LNC 2600 with an output of 2200 kW is installed in the bow as a maneuvering aid. A total of six diesel generators with 4400 kW each are installed. The pulling force with 24 Geo-Streamers is 221 tons at 4.5 knots . A Cummins diesel generator of type KTA 19 is installed for the emergency power supply .
Geostreamer
GeoStreamer is the first true broadband seismography system for exploring the seabed . The streamer is controllable and is dragged down, whereby the low-frequency signal content and its multi-sensor recordings enable the exact removal of unwanted receiver ghost reflections. The result is underground images of greater clarity, accuracy, and reliability. If all streamers are exposed, an area of up to 12 km² can be covered. Hundreds of thousands of hydrophones are attached to the kilometers of cables .
