Ramsay Wedge is a narrow, 3 km long and around 1200 m high rock spur with debris cones at the base in the East Antarctic Coatsland . In the Shackleton Range it rises 3 km southwest of Mount Absalom in the southwest part of the Herbert Mountains .
Aerial photographs of this rock spur were taken in 1967 by the United States Navy . The British Antarctic Survey carried out surveys between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1972 after the British geologist Andrew Ramsay (1814-1891).
